FEB 23, 2014
Yeah don't worry. we follow the rules haha. we just had transfers but I'm still with my comp. razor for my hair would be nice haha. i wash my clothes at the laundromat and i shower with a bucket lol. yeah there are two ward buildings...but our branch has like....maybe 15 people on a good week that attend church . but we eat everyday for lunch at a members house..or less active. so that's cool. i eat plenty....how is Mexico fatter than the us? flippin ridiculous...everything here is so unhealthy. anyway....i have a really cool experience and not a ton of time to do it justice...so I'm going to write about it and take a picture and send it to you next week. but just really quick want to say how awesome fasting is...like i never realized how real fasting is before the mission. but now it brings me so much closer to Christ and the Spirit its incredible. love you. I'll talk to you next week!

FEB.17, 2014
So I asked Jacob to tell us more about his everyday life and his living conditions, this was his latest email.

We have a pretty decent apartment considering...except we wash with a bucket..so that's a thing haha. My companion is great...FINALLY after 6 weeks last night I think we became like legit friends...we stayed up until 12 talking...which isn't necessarily good, but it was good at the same time...idk how to explain it. Anyway him and I are actually not very different. I would tell you about the neighborhood...but I don't want you to freak out haha. it's...alright i guess...we live right by the pólice station...so i guess that should help. but it doesn't really, haha. Our power breaker is outside so kids will randomly go shut our our power..that makes things interesting. We are currently teaching like....idk...6 or 7 families or individuals. Only one of them is kind of progressing. Truth is I'm not having a ton of success...which has actually brought me down a bit, but  my companion he really comforted me and helped me out. Letters take FOREVER, like months. so just saying. packages are a lot faster like a couple weeks, so if you are going to send letter just throw them into a package haha. Everything is referrals...so its pretty good. but we still knock on doors when we feel the need to do so. People for the most part really like me as a missionary..mostly because I'm güero (whitie) that's trying to speak Spanish. its really cool. So last week we had divisions and I got to work with MY BEST FRIEND in the misión! Elder Wright. he is from draper..like super close to us. anyway. It was such a good day because he only has like a couple months more that me and we both talk about the same amount of Spanish so it was really good give and take in lessons. Cause normally my comp just talks most the day long because my Spanish is slow. It really gave me the opportunity to rely on the lord and have the faith that I would be able to understand people and talk. it was the coolest. yeah..my neighborhood is sketchy...not gonna lie. I'll just leave it at that though. I love you I have to go.

Glad to hear the family is doing well. . I've been fasting a lot lately for certain things and its been an amazing experience to see the miracles that fasting and prayer can bring. well i have been doing a lot of things and fasting a lot to forget myself. and it has really done wonders. ha ha love the pictures! i just showed my companion the one of the old lady smoking a joint and we both had a good laugh...i smell weed here probably minimum 3 times a day ha ha. i see like at least 2 or 3 stray dogs on EVERY single street we walk on. its ridiculous....and there are so many dead animals I'm starting to make collection of pictures i call..."el plan de salvación" ha ha so you get two of those today. everything is fantastic. learning lots and having fun.
haha i got my hair cut by a sister in our branch...WOW never doing that again! i specifically asked her to just use a 4 for my whole head to buzz it but she told me that would be ugly...she then got out a 1!!!! to do the sides and said "confieme elder" a million times which means trust me even though i asked her not to and that we can always cut it shorter if its bad...but nope! haha so the sides of my head are like bald and the tope she cut by hand so it was super choppy and uneven...i just when home and re buzzed the top...it looks better, but not by much ahahha...i got a good laugh out of it. all the missionaries and members make jokes about my hair now...but its been really funny to be honest. i look absolutely ridiculous. but that's okay. anyway gotta go!

Jan. 27th Happy Birthday Jacob!!

Jacob's birthday is Today!!
My birthday is the 28th ;-)

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MOMMY!!!
haha I miss you. it looks like your party was a blast! I woke up to a cockroach in my front room. such joy lol. anyway some cool things going on I guess. There is this little girl that looks and acts like Annie! its the craziest thing. like same mannerisms and everything haha but she is such a sweetheart just like our Annie, she's just Mexican instead haha! We had to drop one of our investigators this week and I'm pretty bummed. it's just so sad to see someone who has a desire to change and become more, lose their desire. but its okay because we have another couple families that are really awesome investigators. One family, their dad died in October and from our fist visit I just felt the spirit so strong, she gave a prayer and i cried haha i could just feel our heavenly fathers love for her and her family. She has a strong desire and we have a baptism date for her and her 3 sons! So i'll let you know how that goes. My companion has been good but he just comes from a different culture so it can be a little different. I'ts been a good experience for me.  I could see how some people could get brought down from the differences, but i don't. because why would I? I just try and be better because of it. Well I don't really know what else to say. I'm not very good at writing stuff about what I'm doing. I just ramble. but I'm learning a lot. A family yesterday said they couldn't believe that I have only been here 3 weeks because most elders that have been here this long don't understand or speak as well as I do...so i guess that's pretty cool. anyway. I love you mom. so very very much. I hope your birthday is as amazing as you are!!

The cockroaches are bigger here!

Jan 20th,

Okay idk if I sent back this white and green Spanish book or not but if you could send it that would be sooooo helpful. Also tell dad that the talk is called character of Christ by David Bednar. I miss you all so much. I have had a lot of funny things happen. most of all we get girls coming up and talking to us because I'm an attractive American haha, it cracks me up! but hey it gets referrals! Anyway everything is going well. There is a picture of the Quintana family right after we got them baptism dates for February! So stoked! these people down here are so loving and kind. I'm loving it. Just wish I could say all the things that I want to in Spanish, but its getting better :)

One neglectful blogger!!

It's catch up day for the blog!!
Jan. 6, 2014
We had the wonderful opportunity to talk to Jacob for about an 2 1/2 hours while he was at the SLC and Dallas airport getting ready to take off to Mexico. He sounded wonderful and we could all tell that he has grown tremendously. It was fun to listen to Eric and him talk about "missionary" kind of stuff. He was very excited and anxious to get out there!!
His Mission does a great FB page that posts a lot of pictures that are really fun to see of him. You can like it and keep a look out for him on Face book Misión México Chihuahua.

Meeting his companion.

received this email on Tues Jan. 7th
Hola!
So I'm here. i have my native companion elder Minquiz and he doesn't speak any English GO ME! haha we are in a place about 3 hours out of Chihuahua called Parral. it's a really cool place. I don't understand Spanish. I didn't think I could understand it before and I have now verified that belief. When my companion speaks to me a little slower then i get almost everything he is saying, and he also says that my Spanish is surprisingly good when I speak it, so that's a plus! haha interesting story. So I guess my amazingly good looks are going to be una problema para mi down here. I have had a bunch of girls hiss at me....which is the equivalent of like wolf whistling...so yeah that's a thing, they hiss and say ¨que guapo!¨ and other...stuff, well just say that. But if this is how it feels to be a girl then wow...that stinks. I also had some thugs in a car hiss at me and mock me and yell about how precious I look...so we got the crap out of there. haha all in all though its pretty cool down here! I'll send some pictures next week! i love you all!
